My Body

I look in the mirror and what do I see?

A body that doesn't fit society's decree.

I'm 250 pounds and 5'4,

My curves and rolls are hard to ignore.

My teeth are crooked, my acne won't fade,

My fat arms and thighs make me feel ashamed.

My fingers are fat, my clothes 2XL,

I only wear baggy clothes to hide and quell.

But I am more than just my body,

I'm an artist and a writer, creative and witty.

My mind is sharp, my soul is bright,

And I know I have the power to ignite.

To ignite a fire, a passion within,

To love my body and let my light begin.

To embrace my curves and all that I am,

And show the world that beauty comes in all brands.

So I'll paint and write and create with pride,

And let my inner beauty shine outside.

I am strong, I am beautiful, I am me,

And that's something no one can take or decree.
