Tom was a delivery boy and had always found it difficult to find the right address, but today was different. He managed to find the building quickly and entered the old and dilapidated elevator. As the lift rose to the second floor, Tom heard a creaking noise, and the lights flickered. The elevator stopped, and Tom heard a wheezing sound, and he immediately began to panic.
He pressed the alarm button, hoping someone would hear his cries for help, but there was no response. After a few moments of waiting, he heard footsteps, and the elevator's door creaked open. A tiny, old lady with wrinkled skin and thin white hair emerged from the shadows and invited him outside.
For a second, Tom thought that the lady could see him. However, when he realized that she wasn't looking at him directly but at something behind him, he immediately turned around. There was nothing there. He turned back to the lady who was looking straight ahead, not at him.
Tom walked cautiously down the hallway with the old woman, and he heard the sound of footsteps behind him. Whenever he turned around, there was no one there. The old lady led him into an old apartment and offered him a slice of cake. Tom hadn't eaten all day and wolfed down the cake in no time.
As he stood up to leave, he realized that he was trapped inside. The door was locked, and the windows were boarded up. Tom screamed for help, and an eerie laugh erupted throughout the apartment.
For a second, Tom thought the woman could actually see him, but now he realized that she could see something far worse. The fear took over Tom, and he yelled until his last breath. He could never find his way out, and the elevator of fear became his final resting place.
